Overtime some dentures may become calcified with plaque & tartar buildup or stained for a variety of reasons.  In so many cases this is not necessarily your fault.  Often this is caused from daily medications, unfortunately the medicines can cause your saliva to be sticky, and harden on your denture. Scratches can leave crevises that fills with food particals, thus can then be hard to remove and overtime it calcifies (hardens) and is almost impossible to remove.
